Luminaria

Haven't shot a portrait for the paper that I liked in a long time. But I like how this one came together. Didn't have a whole lot of time for planning, but got a few minutes to work with her and figure out the composition and lighting. Plus, she was very willing to be there and make it work, which was a plus.

This is Carla. She lost her mother and grandmother to cancer and has beaten a bout of it herself. She's a co-chairperson for the Craig Relay for Life and in charge of these luminarias, which are lit during the walk in recognition of people with cancer and remembrance of those who have lost the battle. This is the first relay in Craig's history and response has been great, except people haven't been buying the luminarias, and it's a very big part of the ceremony. We were trying to get the word out that it's a very important part of the ceremony to support.
