new toy

Spent five hours at the office today, working on the Web site. Killing time. Checking the clock. Waiting for my new camera to arrive. The (drum roll, please) . . . 5D. Unwrapping it in frenzy, I slapped on my 50 and cut out the door. Here's a couple random frames from that walk, while looking for a new apartment in east Lawrence.

daily

busy couple of days before my very, lovely, unbusy weekend.. with the ex-show and its spiteful imagery and its dripping human hearts. last-second basketball games and coronations, and a fundraiser at a sports bar in west lawrence.

boys at the park

snow melting

Temperatures rose a little recently, melting much of the snow... part of me is going to miss the way snow slows everyone down, making every action deliberate and thoughtful, each step.. each car ride.

Next Level

A short about a gym in North Lawrence. Once a week, the trainers and a few enthusiasts get together for an extreme workout.

ashes

Taking a break from editing in iMovie. Just finished shooting an essay on a gym in north Lawrence and will post that soon. But now I sit on the floor indian style and edit hundreds of pictures for an animation.

Exhausted... from the weekend in Colorado. Roll from the Holga needing development. Wishing I was printing those in my own darkroom instead of pecking at this keyboard. Music humming from a stereo outside the sealed door.. but that would require me having the equipment and setting it up..

Exhausted.

Here are a few frames from a Ash Wednesday feature today. Catholic masses are so subtle in contrast to most religious gatherings... those small gestures interested me.

DEN

Sitting in the Hampton Inn outside the Denver airport.. about to head down to the pool and take a dip. On the road this weekend covering KU tomorrow in Boulder. First real road game... or flight game.

Stepped outside of the terminal and saw this beautiful mountain light spilling out over the plains.

Tomorrow, basketball in Boulder. Then friends in Denver.
Sunday, watching the big game in Craig then carousing with the locals.
Monday, powder in Steamboat.
