Moments

Here's one of those things I was talking about earlier.

Junior high girls celebrating a successful stunt during a cheerleader clinic.

Teddy

For every 100 boring meetings and presentations that photographers are required to attend, there is one that is a delight.

This was that one.

Passionate, loud, animated and emotional, just how I would imagine our former president in my mind.

Their medium, my medium

Taking pictures of artists is always enjoyable. Maybe it's that we have something in common, something in both of us deep down that drives us to create. I think a lot of the ease comes from being able to experiment and be geeky without feeling pressured.

I'm setting up this portrait and mumbling things about funky lighting, intensity and layering and I don't get one sideways look. Everyone just hung out patiently while I scratched my head and tried to realize what was slowly forming in my minds eye.

This is an artist collective, a group of people who get together to share ideas and plan these multi-artist shows. This collective, Fresh Produce Art Collective, is having a show Monday, my day off. Seemed like a nice crowd, going to go check it out.

Oh, so I uploaded two pictures from the take. I'd be interested in hearing which of the two you like. One is slightly more moment driven. The other I enjoy the composition more.

moment... composition ... moment ... composition...

I have been struggling over this power of balance lately between the two. Trying to focus more on moments, but have trouble enjoying my pictures built solely on moments.

Mass

The nice thing about second shift is the sun is setting right about your lunch time. Noticed this window the other day and decided to come back and take pictures.

Romance

Couldn't pass up this couple cuddling on the lawn under some funky lights. Actually used a tripod (i know, i know, crazy) to make this picture. See, I don't trust the 2dh for anything really over 400iso. So i been using my flash a lot and will probably be carrying the tripod around more often.

Have been talking with a friend who mentioned how much she loves fireworks, going as far as calling them romantic. In the past several years I haven't been able to enjoy the show on the fourth, because I'm always taking pictures and rushing back to deadline. Christ, I'm actually sweating and sprinting. I tend to gravitate toward couples like this because maybe it is romantic. This is my romantic gratification.

Seemed like nice people anyway. We'll see how that color reproduces in the morning.

Battle of the Romans

As rain threatened to cancel Lawrence's Fourth o' July fireworks display, I went out around town to pick up a weather feature. This fella, and his friend, were shooting roman candles at one another. I think this guy got hit a couple times, burning a few new holes in his t-shirt. Definitely good times.

Tomorrow

I start a new job tomorrow. Kansas, Lawrence is home now. I've got the license plate to prove it.

I'm looking forward to tomorrow.

Here is a picture from the park. In Metropolis. Pictures of kids. Pictures of kids for friends.
